Ghana has introduced screening protocols at its international airports for passengers arriving from Ebola-high-risk regions, Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has said.
Akandoh said the West African country has implemented enhanced measures at Kotoka International Airport in Accra and at land borders to prevent infected individuals from entering undetected.
He noted that diseases do not respect borders, underscoring the government’s decision to remain vigilant in order to protect public health.

“All passengers from Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo will be screened at Kotoka International Airport alongside other travellers. The focus is on those from high-risk regions,” he said.
He added that similar screening protocols will be implemented at land entry points across the country.
Akandoh assured that Ghana is fully prepared to contain any potential outbreak should a case be detected.
“Ghana has all it takes to manage the disease in case it is detected in the country,” the minister said.
