The Osun State Government has dismissed allegations by the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) that Governor Ademola Adeleke is marginalising Muslims in his administration and accused the group of peddling misinformation

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, accused MURIC’s Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, of being “an agent of misinformation.”

“We believe Professor Akintola acted on misinformation or he is actively an agent of misinformation,” Alimi said.

The commissioner disclosed that Adeleke has appointed Muslims to key government positions.

“Governor Adeleke is a strong believer who relates well with people of all faiths, in line with the inclusive leadership example of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). His administration has appointed qualified Muslims to key positions,” he said.

The commissioner also urged Akintola to verify his claims before making them public.

Alimi further accused MURIC of politicising religion and challenged the group to openly condemn attacks allegedly carried out by supporters of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in parts of the state.

The commissioner urged MURIC to judge the Adeleke administration by its governance performance rather than by religious or political considerations.

“We expect MURIC to judge this administration by its record of service to all citizens, Muslim and non-Muslim alike,” he added.
