Spanish striker Rafa Mir has been sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison after being convicted of sexual assault and bodily harm, according to the Valencia Community High Court of Justice.
The court confirmed on Monday that the 28-year-old was found guilty by a provincial court in Valencia on “one count of sexual assault and one count of bodily harm.” The judgement, issued after a trial held on 28 May, stated that the conviction can still be appealed.
A second defendant, described as a friend of the footballer, was also convicted, receiving a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence for sexual assault and an offence against moral integrity, alongside a fine for a minor bodily harm charge.

The court further ordered Mir to pay €64,000 (about $74,000) in compensation to the victim.
According to the court’s findings, the offences occurred on September 1 2024, at Mir’s residence in Bétera, in Spain’s Valencia region. The case stemmed from an incident in which Mir and his friend reportedly met two women at a nightclub before the events leading to the conviction.
Mir, who denied the allegations throughout proceedings, was arrested in September 2024. At the time, he was suspended by Valencia CF for two matches. He later spent the 2025–26 season on loan at Elche CF.
The forward previously developed through the Valencia academy before moving to the Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers FC in 2018. He joined Sevilla FC in 2021 and has also represented Spain at youth international level.
The case remains subject to appeal, meaning the final legal outcome is not yet definitive.
