English Premier League side Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Osasuna winger Victor Muñoz after activating his €40 million (£34.6m) release clause, according to reports.
The 22-year-old Spanish international, who is currently part of Spain’s World Cup squad, is understood to be on the verge of becoming the first major addition under new head coach Andoni Iraola, who recently succeeded Arne Slot.
Liverpool are believed to have already stationed club medical staff in the United States to facilitate the final stages of Muñoz’s medical assessment, suggesting the deal is in its closing phase.
Muñoz’s rapid rise in La Liga has attracted significant attention across Europe, with Newcastle United also previously engaged in discussions to sign the winger. The Premier League side had explored a move for the Osasuna forward following their reported sale of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona, but Liverpool have ultimately moved decisively to secure the player’s signature.

The winger is regarded as one of Spain’s most promising attacking talents, combining pace, direct dribbling, and versatility across the front line. His inclusion in Spain’s World Cup squad further underlines his growing reputation on the international stage.
Liverpool’s move signals an early statement of intent from Iraola, who is expected to reshape aspects of the squad as he begins his tenure at Anfield. The acquisition of Muñoz is seen as part of a broader effort to refresh attacking options and inject younger, high-ceiling talent into the team.
Once the transfer is formally completed, Muñoz will join Liverpool ahead of pre-season preparations, where he is expected to compete for a place in a highly competitive forward line.
