Liverpool announced the appointment of Spaniard Andoni Iraola as their new head coach on Thursday, replacing Arne Slot following a poor Premier League title defence.
Slot was sacked on Saturday despite leading Liverpool to their 20th English league title in his first season at the club. The club did not disclose the length of Iraola’s contract, but British media reports suggest he has signed a two-year deal.

Speaking on Liverpool’s official website, the 43-year-old former Bournemouth manager expressed excitement about taking charge of the club.
“Really excited, really excited, because obviously you know about Liverpool, you know that it’s a big club, a massive club, one of the biggest in the world. But feeling inside and understanding a little bit more of this club, I always thought it’s a special club. You don’t need a lot of things to get attracted by Liverpool. Liverpool is Liverpool,” Iraola said.
