Stakeholders at the ongoing 2026 Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) Energy Week Conference & Exhibition have called for stronger collaboration between government agencies and private-sector actors, saying that cooperation, rather than competition, is key to transforming Nigeria’s energy sector.
The Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, while presenting an overview of the company’s activities from 2025 to date, said businesses can only thrive when the sector embraces integration.
He emphasised the need for collaboration between public and private entities, noting that greater partnerships would create a more efficient and sustainable energy sector.
The Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG), Adegbite Falade, also emphasised the importance of making energy more affordable and accessible to Nigerians.
Falade said the future of the energy sector depends on collaboration rather than competition, adding that energy remains “sovereign and ambitious” and requires deliberate efforts to transform it.

He said stakeholders must strengthen the energy infrastructure and expand access without undermining future economic growth.
The discussions at NOG Energy Week have focused on moving beyond policy conversations to implementation, with industry leaders expected to provide updates on actions taken within their respective organisations.
The event is also expected to feature presentations by key government officials, including representatives of the presidency and the Minister of Petroleum Resources, who will provide updates on developments in the energy sector.
Stakeholders said the gathering provides an opportunity for government institutions and private companies to align strategies, address industry challenges and build a more resilient energy ecosystem.
NOG Energy Week is one of Nigeria’s leading energy industry conferences and exhibitions, bringing together government officials, oil and gas companies, investors, regulators, policymakers and energy professionals to discuss the future of Nigeria’s energy sector.
The event has evolved beyond a traditional oil and gas gathering to focus on the broader energy transition, including natural gas, renewables, energy security, investment and technology.
