The crew of a container ship abandoned the vessel after a fire broke out during the latest attack in the Strait of Hormuz. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) disclosed that the crew had evacuated to a rescue ship following the incident.
UKMTO had earlier reported that the vessel was damaged east of Oman. The United States also confirmed that one civilian crew member is missing.

According to UKMTO, the 300-metre-long ship is unable to continue its voyage because of a fire on board and extensive damage to its engine room.
Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it fired warning shots at a ship in the strait.
In a statement published by its Sepah News Telegram channel, the IRGC claimed the vessel had endangered maritime security.
The Guards alleged that several ships attempted to use an unauthorised route and ignored repeated instructions to correct their course.
Following the incident, the IRGC said the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until further notice and until the end of what it described as U.S. interventions in the region.
