The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 18 chairmanship positions and 192 councillorship seats in the Edo State local government elections conducted on Saturday.
Announcing the results in Benin City on Sunday, Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) Chairman Jonathan Aifuobhokhan said the elections were conducted in line with the Edo State Local Government Electoral Law and other relevant electoral guidelines.
He stated that the electoral process—from accreditation and voting to counting, collation and declaration of results—was successfully completed across the state’s 18 local government areas.

According to Aifuobhokhan, the commission was satisfied with the performance of its returning officers, describing them as professional and impartial in carrying out their duties.
He acknowledged that minor operational challenges were recorded in a few locations but maintained that they did not affect either the conduct or the overall outcome of the election, which he described as generally peaceful.
The EDSIEC chairman commended residents for participating in the poll and thanked Governor Monday Okpebholo for allowing the commission to operate independently throughout the exercise.
He announced that certificates of return would be presented to the elected chairmen and councillors on Monday.
Aifuobhokhan also advised any political party or candidate dissatisfied with the results to seek redress through the appropriate legal channels, while reaffirming the commission’s commitment to improving future elections through stakeholder engagement and periodic electoral reforms.
