Paraguay international midfielder Diego Gomez signed a new five-year contract extension with Premier League club Brighton on Friday.

Since joining the team from MLS side Inter Miami in January 2025, the 23-year-old has scored 11 goals across 56 appearances.

On the international stage, Gomez recently helped Paraguay reach the round of 16 at the World Cup in North America, starting in their 1-0 tournament-ending defeat against France.

Brighton sporting director Mike Cave praised the midfielder’s rapid impact following the announcement. “Diego has been an important player for us since his arrival, and we’re pleased to have secured his long-term future,” Cave said.

He noted that Gomez adapted seamlessly to Premier League football and solidified a key role in the squad, expressing confidence that the player will continue developing and help the club achieve its long-term goals.
