Nearly two million registered voters in Osun State have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the state’s governorship election.
In a statement issued on Friday, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mohammed Kudu Haruna, said 1,906,390 voters have collected their PVCs.
The figure represents 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state, according to INEC.
INEC said 432,843 PVCs, representing the remaining 18.50 per cent, had not been collected and were safely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The commission also said 6,101 voters who applied to replace damaged, defaced or lost PVCs printed downloadable copies of their cards.
“A total of 6,101 among those who applied printed downloadable copies of their PVCs,” the statement said.
INEC said it had published a polling-unit-by-polling-unit breakdown of the collected PVCs on its website.
The commission assured political parties, civil society organisations, the media and voters in Osun of its readiness for the election.
“The Commission reassures political parties, civil society organisations, media, and the good people of Osun State of its total readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive election,” Haruna said.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
