The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun uploading results from Saturday’s Osun State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
As of 4:12 p.m., 437 of the 3,763 expected polling unit results had been uploaded, representing about 11.6 percent of the total, according to figures on the commission’s results portal observed by the Guardian.
The number of uploaded results is expected to rise as more polling units complete the transmission of their result sheets.
INEC had earlier said results from all 3,763 polling units across the state would be transmitted to IReV after voting to promote transparency in the electoral process.
The polling units are spread across the state’s 30 Local Government Areas and 332 Registration Areas/Wards.
The commission said BVAS devices deployed for the election would also be used to transmit polling unit results to the portal.
As of 4:12 p.m., 3,326 polling unit results were still awaiting upload on the IReV portal.
More than 1.9 million voters collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the election, according to INEC.
Fifteen candidates were initially cleared to contest, but two withdrew on Friday, leaving 13 candidates in the race.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the Accord Party platform, faces his main challenge from the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam.
