Britain, Canada, and Australia issued a joint statement on Friday condemning Israel’s decision to close its investigation into the 2024 deaths of seven World Central Kitchen aid workers in Gaza.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) concluded on Wednesday that there was no “reasonable suspicion of criminal misconduct,” opting not to pursue criminal charges for the drone strike that destroyed the group’s convoy.

The three allied nations labelled the military’s unexplained decision “shameful,” particularly noting that the announcement coincided with World Humanitarian Day.

While the Israeli military admitted to a series of command errors and called the strike a “tragic mistake,” World Central Kitchen rejected the findings as “deeply offensive” and demanded an independent commission to examine the incident.

In response to the decision, Australia expressed outrage and summoned Israel’s ambassador to demand further accountability.
