PSG President Under Investigation in France

French anti-corruption police have launched a preliminary investigation into Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) President Nasser al-Khelaifi over conflict-of-interest suspicions, Paris prosecutors confirmed on Sunday.

The probe centres on al-Khelaifi’s dual role as head of the European champions and chief executive of beIN Media Group, specifically examining a July 2024 meeting with French football league representatives regarding broadcasting rights.

Authorities initiated the investigation in April following a complaint from the anti-graft group Anticor.

The investigation adds to a growing list of legal challenges for the Qatari executive, who has led PSG since Qatar Sports Investments acquired the club in 2011.

A source close to the matter revealed that prosecutors also charged al-Khelaifi in February 2025 with complicity in abuse of power related to shareholder voting.

Although France’s highest court annulled previous corruption charges against him in 2023 on jurisdictional grounds, his legal team maintains his innocence, insisting he has always acted with complete independence, impartiality, and objectivity.
