France and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe says he believes he has done enough to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or, as he continues his campaign for football’s most prestigious individual award.
The 27-year-old has pointed to his goal-scoring record across major competitions, arguing that individual performances often determine the award’s outcome.
Speaking to RFI radio, Mbappe said voters would focus on individual brilliance rather than team achievements alone.

“They won’t announce a team in the envelope, they will announce a player,” Mbappe said, adding that consistency and memorable moments are key factors for players competing for the honour.
“The ability to perform individually and produce eye-catching moments, that’s what stands out to people for an award like this.”
Mbappe finished last season as the leading scorer in La Liga, the Champions League and the World Cup. He scored 25 league goals for Real Madrid, 15 in the Champions League and 10 during France’s World Cup campaign. His World Cup performances also saw him become the tournament’s all-time leading scorer, with 22 goals overall.
Despite his impressive numbers, Mbappe’s chances face competition from several players who delivered major team success this season.
Spanish duo Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres won both La Liga with Barcelona and the World Cup with Spain. Paris Saint-Germain forwards Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia lifted the Ligue 1 title and Champions League trophy, while Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane secured the Bundesliga crown.
Mbappe’s individual statistics came during a season where Real Madrid ended without a major trophy. The club finished second in La Liga and exited the Champions League in the quarter-finals after a defeat to Bayern Munich, while France were eliminated in the World Cup semi-finals.

Still, Mbappe remains confident his personal achievements can separate him from the competition.
“I was top scorer in all the biggest competitions and I think that this could be a good year for me, and I really feel it,” he said.
The Ballon d’Or winner will be decided after votes from journalists around the world, with Mbappe hoping his goal-scoring record can earn him the award for the first time.
