Man City Hold Bayern to Start UWCL Season

Manchester City fought back from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in their Women’s Champions League opener on Tuesday.

Bayern built a rapid 2-0 lead through Giulia Gwinn’s early strike and a Kerstin Casparij own goal inside 30 minutes before Beth Mead pulled one back before halftime.

Despite Bayern goalkeeper Ena Mahmutovic saving a second-half Khadija Shaw penalty, Carlotta Wamser scored in the 86th minute to rescue a point for City.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Arsenal clinched a dramatic 1-0 victory over HB Koge after Mariona Caldentey converted a 92nd-minute penalty.

Paris Saint-Germain salvaged a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid thanks to a second-half penalty by Sakina Karchaoui, while Inter Milan secured a 1-0 victory over Hacken through an early Haley Bugeja goal.

Additionally, Benfica defeated Juventus 2-1 behind a double from Marit Bratberg Lund.
