Gbajabiamila Denies PFIPC Allegations

Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the President while rejecting allegations linking him to the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC.

Gbajabiamila spoke on Saturday during his 2026 mega empowerment programme at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

He said investigations into the allegations had been completed and that the reports were now in the public domain.

Gbajabiamila said he had faced accusations and attacks in recent months but remained grateful to people in Surulere, Lagos State and other Nigerians who supported him.

“The past few months have tested me in ways I never expected. Stories were written, strange accusations were made, lies were told, and my integrity was questioned,” he said.

He said the allegations were false and malicious, adding that the Nigerian Police, the Department of State Services and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission had cleared him of wrongdoing.

“The allegations came ferociously, but I was grateful that my people and those who know me knew the allegations were false and malicious. At the end of all the investigations, the Nigerian Police, the DSS and the ICPC cleared me of any wrongdoing, and the investigative reports are in the public domain,” he said.

Gbajabiamila also praised President Tinubu for allowing the investigations to run their course instead of acting on the allegations before the outcome was known.

“I must thank my principal, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Many people wanted him to rush to judgement and give a verdict before the investigation; he refused and insisted on due process,” he said.

He added that Tinubu’s long-standing relationship with him gave the President confidence that he was not involved in the allegations.

“Let me also say Mr President knows his Chief of Staff very well. Having worked so closely with me for many years, he was therefore supremely confident that I was not in any way involved in those malicious stories,” he said.

‘I remain focused on my duties’

The Chief of Staff said the allegations had not affected his commitment to his responsibilities in the Presidency.

“Let me speak plainly and directly to all those behind the attacks. No amount of money, no amount of blackmail or lies, whether sponsored from within or outside, will detract me from my work and the work Mr President has given me to do,” he said.

He also warned people against using his name to defraud others.

“And to anyone using my name to defraud people or misrepresent me, know that the law will always catch up with you,” he added.

Gbajabiamila further reaffirmed his loyalty to Tinubu, recalling their longstanding political relationship.

“In politics, loyalty is the currency we spend the most. I have been with Mr President for many years and there have been times when his political decisions did not favour my wishes. I did not question his leadership and never betrayed his trust in me. I stayed loyal then and I remain loyal now. My commitment to his Renewed Hope agenda is unshaken,” he said.

Background to PFIPC controversy

The controversy followed allegations by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who presented himself as the Director-General of the purported PFIPC.

Adeyemi alleged that Gbajabiamila demanded and received ₦400 million through a proxy and requested an additional ₦200 million to facilitate his appointment to head the organisation.

Gbajabiamila denied the allegations and said he had no personal, official or professional relationship with Adeyemi.

The Presidency subsequently disowned the PFIPC, saying it had not been established by the Nigerian Government. President Tinubu also directed the ICPC to investigate the organisation, disputed appointment documents and related allegations.

The ICPC later questioned Gbajabiamila as part of its investigation, while stressing that he was not arrested and had voluntarily honoured its invitation.

The House of Representatives also investigated the matter through an ad hoc committee.

The committee later said it found no evidence that Gbajabiamila authorised, established or participated in the activities of the purported organisation.

It also said the appointment letter presented by Adeyemi as evidence of his appointment was fake.
