Gunmen armed with assault rifles have killed 17 people and wounded 15 others in a shooting at a bar west of Johannesburg, South African police have confirmed.
The shooting is one of two separate deadly attacks reported at entertainment venues in South Africa over the weekend.
The attack happened on Saturday night at about 9:30 p.m. local time, with emergency responders declaring all 17 victims dead at the scene.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the attackers entered the venue, searched some patrons and took their mobile phones before escaping in two unidentified vehicles.
“They allegedly searched some patrons and took their cellphones before fleeing the scene in two unidentified motor vehicles,” SAPS said in a statement.
Police said the motive for the attack remains unknown, adding that the suspects were reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols.
In a separate incident in Cape Town, police said 10 people were killed and 11 others wounded after gunmen opened fire at an entertainment venue in Lwandle. The attack happened at about 1:46 a.m. local time, with authorities confirming that five of the victims died at the scene.

Police have not disclosed whether the two shootings are connected or provided details about possible suspects.
South Africa has continued to face challenges linked to violent crime. Days ago, 11 people, including a pregnant woman, were killed after gunmen attacked a homestead in KwaMakhutha township south of Durban, South Africa, the head of the provincial government said on Wednesday.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing as police work to establish the circumstances surrounding the attacks and identify those responsible.
