Residents and commuters in Agbarho, Delta State, have appealed for urgent government intervention after flash floods damaged a section of the East-West Road at Oviri Junction.
The flooding has caused severe traffic congestion, disrupted vehicular movement and submerged several homes in the community.
Residents are calling for immediate repairs to the damaged section of the highway, while proposing a larger culvert or bridge as a permanent solution to the recurring flooding.

The damage resulted in long queues and left several commuters stranded.
Some motorists and passengers who could not remain in the traffic resorted to walking across the flooded section to continue their journeys.
However, residents said the rising water posed a serious safety risk, particularly to pedestrians attempting to cross the damaged portion of the road.
The flooding also affected homes in the area, forcing some residents to abandon their houses as the water level continued to rise.
Residents and road users urged the relevant authorities, particularly the Nigerian Government, to intervene without delay.
They called for the collapsed culvert to be replaced with a larger drainage structure or bridge capable of accommodating the volume of water and allowing it to flow freely.
According to the residents, a permanent solution would restore movement along the East-West Road and help prevent recurring floods that continue to disrupt lives and economic activities in the area.
The incident comes amid reports of flooding in other parts of the country following heavy rainfall.
In Rivers State, several parts of Port Harcourt were affected by flooding after about three days of persistent rainfall.
Flooding was reported in areas including New GRA, sections of the Eliozu-GU Ake Road, Eneka, Elimgbu, Odili Road, SARS Road and parts of Rupokwu.
The prolonged rainfall left stagnant water in some areas, while other parts of the city experienced significant flooding, raising concerns among residents.
