One person has been killed and three others seriously injured in a car crash along Lagos Coastal Road near Eko Hotel in Lagos State. The accident occurred early Friday and involved a grey Lexus Jeep 350 with registration number LSD 554 KV.

According to preliminary findings by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the vehicle reportedly lost control and then crashed violently into a roadside pole before overturning.

LASTMA officials monitoring traffic around the Coastal Road quickly moved to the scene, secured the affected section, and coordinated the emergency response.

Meanwhile, security personnel from Victoria Island provided additional support at the scene. LASTMA officers also removed the damaged vehicle from the road. This helped prevent another crash and restored free-flowing traffic along the route. Other emergency and security agencies also joined the rescue, investigation and safety operations.

Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, condoled with the family of the deceased. He warned motorists against excessive speed, reckless driving and loss of vehicular control.

Bakare-Oki said such behaviour could have “devastating and irreversible consequences” for motorists and other road users. He also urged motorists to remain vigilant, maintain safe speeds and obey traffic regulations.

The LASTMA boss further urged the public to report road crashes, vehicle breakdowns, obstructions and other emergencies. Reports can be made through LASTMA’s toll-free short code, 3367, for prompt intervention.
