The funeral service for late veteran Nigerian actor Olu Jacobs was held on Friday at This Present House, Lekki, Lagos State.

Family members, friends, colleagues and dignitaries gathered to honour the veteran actor and celebrate his life.

Jacobs’ widow, actress Joke Silva, attended the service with their sons, Olusoji and Olugbenga Jacobs. Family members wore blue throughout the funeral mass.

Jacobs’ casket was placed in front of the church and decorated with flowers. Among the dignitaries at the service were Lagos State First Lady Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat. Hamzat’s wife, Chief Mrs Oluremi Hamzat, also attended the funeral.

Former Ogun State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun and former Ekiti State First Lady Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi were also present.

The funeral followed after a Night of Tributes held on Wednesday at Glover Memorial Hall, Marina, Lagos Island. The tribute event brought together members of the entertainment industry, friends and admirers who celebrated Jacobs’ life and career.

Guests at Friday’s funeral were asked to wear shades of green. A private burial is expected to follow the funeral service, according to the family’s programme.

Jacobs, whose full name was Oludotun Baiyewun Jacobs, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the age of 84. His family announced his death, describing him as “The Lion of Lufodo,” and asked the public to respect their privacy during the mourning period.

The actor leaves behind a career spanning more than five decades across theatre, television and film. His funeral marks the final farewell to one of Nigeria’s veteran actors, with family, colleagues and admirers gathered to honour his legacy.
