Oscar-winning actress Eva Marie Saint, who starred in Hollywood classics including On the Waterfront and North by Northwest, died Tuesday at age 102.
Her representative, Jeff Sanderson, confirmed that she died of natural causes at her Los Angeles home surrounded by family.
Saint launched her film career with a brilliant debut in Elia Kazan’s 1954 crime drama On the Waterfront.
Her compelling performance alongside Marlon Brando earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
She solidified her legendary status five years later when Alfred Hitchcock cast her opposite Cary Grant as the alluring double agent in North by Northwest.

Despite Hollywood offering immediate superstardom, Saint intentionally scaled back her workload to raise a family with her husband, director Jeffrey Hayden, to whom she remained married for 65 years until he died in 2016.
She maintained a versatile seven-decade career across film and television, starring in Exodus alongside Paul Newman, earning an Emmy Award in 1990 for the miniseries People Like Us, and later appearing as Superman’s adoptive mother in the 2006 blockbuster Superman Returns.
