Kenya’s Ministry of Health confirmed on Sunday that the country has recorded no new Ebola cases following 293 laboratory tests conducted since October 5.

Health officials instituted rapid testing across the nation after a Kenyan citizen, who recently travelled from the Democratic Republic of Congo, died of the virus in Nairobi.

Out of 289 alerts investigated across the country, only the initial index case tested positive.

The ministry appealed to the public to remain calm yet vigilant, advising anyone experiencing symptoms or suspecting exposure to seek immediate medical assistance.

Kenya remains on high alert as the fourth nation affected by the ongoing epidemic in eastern Congo, which stands as the second-largest Ebola outbreak on record with over 8,000 cases.
