Ten people have died, and four others sustained injuries after a van plunged off a cliff in western Bolivia on Monday, according to police.
The crash occurred in the early hours on a dirt road near Irupana, a mountainous town east of the capital, La Paz.

Police chief Colonel Ricardo Terrazas confirmed that 10 people had died, while four injured passengers were taken to hospitals in La Paz for treatment.

“So far, we have 10 fatalities,” Terrazas said.
He said investigators were working to establish what caused the vehicle to leave the road.
Local media reports indicated that most of those killed worked at a nearby mine.
Data from Bolivia’s Interior Ministry show that road accidents claim about 1,400 lives annually in the country, with reckless driving and mechanical faults identified as the main causes.
