The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old butcher, Selim Ayodele, over the alleged stabbing to death of his 26-year-old colleague, Ibrahim Wasiu, following a disagreement at their workplace in Alagbole.

The incident reportedly occurred on October 18, 2026, after the two men had finished work at a cow meat-selling outlet.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, saying the incident was reported at the Ajuwon Police Station at about 8pm.

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicated that the disagreement arose over sweeping the floor at their workplace.

Babaseyi said the argument allegedly escalated, prompting Ayodele to pick up a knife and stab Wasiu in the left side of his chest before twisting the weapon.

“The victim was rushed to Life Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival,” the statement said.

The statement noted that the suspect was in police custody as investigations continued ahead of prosecution.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to prompt response to criminal incidents, thorough investigations and the lawful prosecution of offenders.

Ojajuni urged residents to exercise restraint, resolve disagreements peacefully and promptly report criminal incidents to the police.
