President Bola Tinubu arrived in Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening to perform Umrah, the lesser hajj, marking his second pilgrimage to Makkah since taking office in May 2023.

Tinubu landed at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, where he was received by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Yakubu Gambo, and the Saudi head of royal protocol, Ahmad bin Thafir.

The president is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the religious exercise.

His first pilgrimage to the holy city occurred in November 2023, shortly after attending the Saudi-African Summit in Riyadh.

The trip adds to an extensive record of international travel during his tenure, with reports indicating he has visited more than 30 countries across over 50 trips since his inauguration on May 29, 2023.
