President Bola Tinubu has pledged to intensify his administration’s efforts to develop Nigeria, stating that his recent spiritual pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia has reinforced his dedication to the task.
“My commitment to Project Nigeria is higher. I am determined to usher in prosperity and fully develop the country, consistent with the wish of Allah and the support of the people,” Tinubu said in a statement released on Monday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.
The president made the remarks after performing Umrah, during which Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud granted him rare access to pray inside the Holy Ka’abah.
Tinubu stated he prayed for the wisdom and resilience required to lead the nation.
“I asked for wisdom and resilience to continue to serve the people. I know that prayer has been granted,” he said.

Reflecting on the nature of political power, Tinubu emphasised that leadership is a temporary trust.
“There is no other God but Almighty Allah. He is the giver and the taker. He owns power and authority,” he stated, noting that leaders must govern with humility.
The president also expressed confidence in the country’s economic trajectory, stating that the nation has emerged from a difficult period.
“The foundation is solid, and the economy has come out of the dark tunnel. This is inspiring,” he said.
He reiterated the necessity of investing in the country’s youth, adding that the decisions made by current leaders will determine their legacy.
