Suspected guerrillas detonated a truck bomb near a military base in western Colombia, killing four people, including a two-month-old baby girl.
The blast struck the town of Planadas in the Tolima department, severely damaging a nearby hospital and several homes.
Emergency workers and locals pulled victims from the rubble, while medical teams treated numerous injured residents inside a local school.

While authorities have not identified the specific group responsible, drones hovered over Planadas during the strike.
Cocaine-trafficking insurgents in Colombia frequently deploy drones for aerial surveillance and targeted bombings.
The attack mirrors another recent assault in the neighbouring Huila department, where an explosive-laden motorcycle killed a police officer during a town celebration.

The bombing follows a sharp escalation in violence after President Abelardo de la Espriella halted all peace talks upon taking office in August and launched heavy airstrikes against armed factions.
In response to rising insurgent strikes and drone operations, De la Espriella ordered troops into border cities like Cúcuta and vowed to eliminate the responsible “narcoterrorists.”
Tolima Governor Adriana Magali Matiz strongly condemned the attack, calling the targeting of civilians an intolerable violation.
