Snap settled a landmark bellwether lawsuit on Monday over the alleged harms of its Snapchat platform to young users.
The resolution came just two days before opening statements were scheduled to begin in a Los Angeles courtroom.
Lawyers representing the youth plaintiffs confirmed the agreement, following a similar settlement by Meta late last week.

The case consolidated claims from two young users who argued that early exposure to addictive social media features harmed their mental health.
While TikTok, YouTube, and Meta previously negotiated separate settlements to resolve their liability, Snap remained the final corporate defendant facing immediate trial.
Plaintiffs’ attorneys emphasised that these individual resolutions help advance their broader push to hold social media companies accountable for child safety nationwide.

Although Snap did not immediately comment on the settlement terms on Monday, the company previously denied wrongdoing, asserting that its platform design prioritises community safety over addictive engagement.
This outcome resolves a crucial test case that legal experts expected to set a precedent for hundreds of similar youth harm lawsuits pending against tech platforms across the United States.
