Police Arrest Nigerian Senator Over Incursion Into Sealed Property

Former Imo State Governor and Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Rochas Okorocha was on Sunday arrested by the Police after forcefully entering a state property.

Okorocha was alleged of leading a violent break into the Royal Palm Spring Estate, Owerri, Southeast Nigeria with the State Commisioner of Police inviting him for questioning afterwards.

The Police said it got a distress call that an incursion was happening at the estate which had been hitherto sealed by the state government, only to find the leader of the gang was a former governor of the state.

Ijeoma Igboanusi and Lasbrey Okafor-Anyanwu were also arrested alongside Okorocha.

Igboanusi was the deputy chief of staff (Domestics) while Okafor-Anyanwu was the Commissioner for Transportation in Okorocha’s government.

It said the violent breakout led to Okorocha’s invitation to allow the Police listen to his side of the story.

A full investigation has been commenced into the incident to have a better idea of what transpired, according to a statement by the Imo State Police Command.
