The governments of Egypt and Russia have agreed to resume all flights between the two countries. This was disclosed after a call between both presidents, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Vladimir Putin.
In October 2015, a Russian passenger plane crashed in Sinai killing 224 people. It subsequently led to the suspension of flights to resort destinations Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada.
Even though no particular timeline was given for the resumption of the flight by the Eygptian government, Russia’s Interfax news agency says flights could resume in the second half of May.
Egypt’s Presidency in a statement said the decision to resume flights follows “the joint cooperation between the two sides on this issue, and is based on the standards of security and convenience provided for visits at Egyptian tourist destination airports”
