Aïssata Traoré Becomes First Malian in US Women’s Football

US women’s football club, Boston Legacy FC, announced the signing of striker Aïssata Traore to a three-year contract that extends through the 2028 NWSL season on Friday.

This agreement makes Traoré, 27, the club’s first international signing and the first player from Mali in the league’s history.

Traoré will continue to play on loan with French club FC Fleury 91 before joining Boston for its inaugural preseason in 2026.

Since joining Fleury in 2024, Traoré has scored nine goals and provided four assists in 20 matches, following her time at France’s Guingamp (2019-24) and Türkiye’s Beşiktaş (2019).

On the international stage, she has been a regular member of the Mali national team since 2018, when she helped the squad reach the semifinals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
