Al Jazira winger Felicio Milson sparked Angola’s victory by scoring in the third minute to secure a 3-1 win over Malawi in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Tuesday.
Captain Mabululu doubled the advantage in the 38th minute before Kialonda Gaspar turned the ball into his own net during first-half stoppage time to hand Malawi a lifeline.
Substitute Miro sealed the home victory in the 71st minute, striking just three minutes after replacing Mabululu.

Overlapping full-backs drove the Angolan attack throughout the match, with Junior Sambu setting up the opener and Pedro Bondo providing crosses for the final two goals.

Malawi nearly levelled the match early in the second half when Babatunde Adepoju struck the post from close range, but the missed chance allowed Angola to take control of Group B alongside Egypt, leading on goal difference with four points each.
The result marks the first competitive victory for Angola under new head coach Aliou Cissé, who previously led Senegal to the 2021 AFCON title.
With Egypt favoured to top the group, the ongoing battle between Angola and Malawi will likely determine the second qualification spot for the 2027 tournament in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Both teams will resume qualifying fixtures in November before facing off again in Lilongwe next March.
