Austria announced on Saturday the temporary relocation of its embassy from Tehran to neighbouring Azerbaijan.
This decision comes as the Middle East conflict intensifies, leaving the Iranian capital under frequent bombardment from U.S. and Israeli airstrikes.
A spokesperson for the Austrian Foreign Ministry confirmed the move to Baku and noted that all consular services in Iran have been suspended until further notice.
The move follows a similar decision by Italy, which closed its Tehran mission earlier this week, citing security concerns.

The security situation in Iran deteriorated further on Saturday during a massive aerial offensive that targeted several key locations, including a major strike that ignited a large-scale fire at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport.
In response to the escalating regional violence, Austria has been active in repatriation efforts.
Since the conflict began last week, the government has organised four charter flights to evacuate citizens.
These operations have successfully transported more than 800 people to safety from various departure points, including Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
