Benue Governor Alia Champions Local Industry at Made-in-Benue Exhibition

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, on Wednesday, reaffirmed his commitment to promoting local enterprise at the first-ever Made-in-Benue Products Exhibition held at IBB Square, Makurdi.

The event showcased the creativity, craftsmanship, and industriousness of the Benue people, featuring a range of locally sourced materials and innovative products.

Speaking at the exhibition, Governor Alia emphasised the state’s potential to become an industrial hub, pledging support for local innovation through improved funding access, a business-friendly environment, and infrastructure development.

“I remain committed to supporting local innovation through access to funding, creating a business-friendly environment, and investing in infrastructure,” he said.

As part of efforts to encourage excellence, cash prizes ranging from ₦1 million to ₦5 million were awarded to over 30 outstanding exhibitors.

The governor congratulated the winners, urging them to continue striving for excellence in their respective fields.

Governor Alia also called on residents to prioritise locally made products, stressing that supporting homegrown businesses would drive economic growth and self-reliance.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, who commended the initiative.

The governor concluded by expressing gratitude to all participants and reaffirming his vision for a prosperous and self-sufficient Benue State.
