Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will publish an updated candidate list for the 2027 general elections following a comprehensive review process.
Speaking in Gombe on Tuesday during an interactive session with Northeast staff, INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN) confirmed that officials conducted the audit to resolve administrative discrepancies and party submission errors.
The commission established a strict 14-day window to evaluate candidate filings before releasing the final roster.

Addressing journalists, Amupitan outlined the necessity of the revision: “As you know, usually, in any list published, there could be errors here and there, and there have been complaints of misspellings of names. We have also received complaints of double nominations.”
He reassured the public that the commission will release the finalised document imminently to maintain electoral integrity ahead of the 2027 polls.
