Italian Grand Prix motorcycle racer Fabio Di Giannantonio secured a stunning pole position for the Brazilian Grand Prix on Saturday, marking his first top-spot start since 2022.
The Italian rider, representing Valentino Rossi’s VR46 team, clocked a blistering 1:17.410 at the Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia.
His achievement was particularly impressive as he had to navigate the first qualifying session (Q1) before topping the shootout, ultimately finishing just ahead of fellow countryman and Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi.
The qualifying session was defined by high drama and multiple accidents on a track featuring lingering damp patches from earlier flooding.
Reigning champion Marc Marquez managed to secure the final spot on the front row despite a late crash at Turn 4.

He was joined in the “fallers” club by several high-profile riders, including two-time champion Francesco Bagnaia and current points leader Pedro Acosta, both of whom struggled to find rhythm after their respective slides.
As MotoGP returns to Brazil for the first time in over two decades, the grid for Sunday’s main event shows a diverse mix of manufacturers.
While Fabio Quartararo took a strong fourth for Yamaha, Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura will follow on the second row.
Acosta, who leads the standings following a dominant season opener in Thailand, will start from ninth, leaving him with significant work to do in the upcoming sprint and grand prix races.
