Drones targeted an airport in the city of Kisangani in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo over the weekend, according to the provincial government.
No one has claimed responsibility for the incident, but local authorities said they suspect the armed M23 group and Rwanda may be involved.
No evidence has been publicly presented, and the allegations have not been independently verified.
The Tshopo provincial government said the drones were carrying explosives and were detected between Saturday and Sunday.
Officials said, “Eight enemy drones were neutralised before reaching their target.”
No deaths or injuries have been reported.
Witnesses told AFP that security around the airport was reinforced on Monday.
The airline CAA, which operates domestic flights to Kisangani, had not announced any flight cancellations.
