Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has warned suspected internet fraudsters that their lifestyle will not shield them from arrest, in a graphic posted on its official X account on Saturday.
“You may be hiding in Abia or Zaria Enjoying life with maria & Victoria You will soon see EFCC for Area,” the commission said.
The EFCC also said unemployment cannot justify defrauding people abroad.
“Unemployment is not a Criteria To dupe somebody from Liberia Creating bad image for Nigeria,” it said.

The post did not name specific suspects or give details of particular cases involving Liberian victims.
Nigeria has long battled internet fraud, locally known as “Yahoo Yahoo,” which authorities say damages the country’s international reputation.
The warning drew comments on X, with some users questioning the agency’s focus on street-level fraudsters while high-profile political corruption cases remain unresolved.
