Striker Harry Kane’s late double delivered a 2-0 victory over Albania, successfully capping off England’s flawless, record-setting World Cup qualification campaign under coach Thomas Tuchel.

This win cemented England’s place in history as the first European side to complete a World Cup qualifying series of at least six matches with a 100 per cent record and zero goals conceded.

They scored 22 goals across their eight Group K victories, paving a flawless path to the next tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

This clean-sheet streak also equals Spain’s European record of 10 consecutive competitive wins without conceding.

The victory in Tirana bookended Tuchel’s impressive first year in charge, which saw the team achieve their highest win percentage in a calendar year since 1946 (nine wins out of 10 games).

Kane, who is now focused on maximising set-piece efficiency, scored his 77th and 78th England goals, capitalising on a corner and a Marcus Rashford cross.

Despite a sluggish start to the match and an impressive defensive performance from Albania, England maintained their focus, delivering a strong performance that fuels belief for success at the upcoming World Cup.
