He added that authorities arrested or detained more than 130 people. Some of those detained were victims who would be repatriated to their home countries. Patel said the latest operation was part of a wider international effort to dismantle scam compounds targeting Americans.

The FBI director also disclosed the cumulative results of Operation Blackout. According to Patel, authorities have seized roughly $17 billion linked to the operations.

The campaign has also led to the arrest of hundreds of alleged scammers and the release of thousands of trafficked workers. More than 10,000 Americans have been warned before losing money, while an estimated $670 million in losses have been prevented.
“Operation Blackout totals so far: -Roughly $17 BILLION seized -Hundreds of alleged scammers arrested -Thousands of trafficked workers freed -10,000+ Americans warned before losing money -$670 MILLION in estimated losses prevented,” Patel said.
