Flick: Barcelona Surpassing Expectations in Treble Push

Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick, expressed his pride on Saturday as his team continues to exceed expectations, fighting for three major trophies in March. Since taking over from Xavi Hernandez last summer, after a trophyless campaign, Barcelona has been on an impressive run.

Barcelona currently lead La Liga, ahead of defending champions Real Madrid on goal difference, are in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, and will face Benfica in the Champions League Round of 16.

With such a demanding schedule ahead, starting with a La Liga clash against Real Sociedad on Sunday, Flick remains upbeat, praising his team for staying focused.

“The team is doing really great, they are focused, no excuses, just focus on the next match,” Flick said. “It’s not easy to manage everything, but we will give everything. We are in three competitions, and when we started the season, nobody expected it would be like this on the first of March.”

Flick confirmed that some rotation would take place for the Real Sociedad game, with the Champions League clash against Benfica in mind. “We need fresh legs, and tomorrow is a good opportunity for changes, but I won’t reveal which changes just yet,” he added.

The coach also gave an update on defender Andreas Christensen, who has suffered another injury setback. Having returned from an Achilles injury earlier in the season, Christensen has now picked up a calf issue and will miss the match against Real Sociedad.
