Nigeria’s former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, and his son, Abdulaziz Malami, were granted bail in the sum of N200 million each on Friday over alleged terrorism-related charges.
Malami and his son were re-arraigned before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the High Court in Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday after the case was reassigned to her.
The court held that one of the sureties must provide the title deed of a developed property located in either Asokoro or Maitama, Abuja. The defendants were also directed to deposit their international passports with the court, and the case was adjourned to March 4.
Malami’s case was adjourned to February 27 following a public holiday declared by the Federal Capital Territory Minister on February 20.

Malami is accused of failing to prosecute suspected terrorism financiers, whose case files were handed to him while he served as the AGF and Minister of Justice, unlawfully storing firearms in their residence at Gesse Phase II Area, Birnin Kebbi LGA, Kebbi State, among other allegations.
The former AGF had appeared before Justice Obiora Egwuatu, who withdrew from the case on February 12, shortly after the EFCC’s civil case was brought to him.
Before then, Justice Emeka Nwite sat as a vacation judge during the Christmas/New Year break. The Chief Justice reassigned the cases to Justice Egwuatu, who recused himself, and then to Justice Abdulmalik, the current presiding judge.
