France’s first confirmed Ebola patient has recovered and been discharged from the hospital, Health Minister Stephanie Rist announced on Saturday.
The patient, a doctor, tested positive for the virus after arriving in France from the Democratic Republic of the Congo on June 23, marking the first Ebola case detected on French territory.
According to the health minister, the physician has now left the medical facility and returned home.
The doctor had travelled to France on an Air France flight and experienced only mild symptoms, including headaches.

Following the diagnosis, health authorities identified five fellow passengers on the flight as possible contacts and placed them in precautionary isolation.
Although France had previously received two Ebola patients during the 2014 West Africa outbreak, both had been diagnosed before being transported to the country.
The latest Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo was declared on May 15.
According to government figures released on July 2, the outbreak has resulted in at least 438 deaths among 1,406 confirmed infections.
