CK Akonnor, according to the Ghanaian media has lost the dressing room and the decision to sack him came on the back of an unimpressive 1-0 loss to South Africa. Fans of the Black Stars had called for Akonnor’s head after the game, and pinpointed his lack of authority on the team.

Akonnor, a former Bundesliga player, has also lost the confidence of the main power players in the federation, who see his continuous presence as dangerous for Ghana’s World Cup quest.

Ghana hope to better their chances next month when they face Zimbabwe in a double-legged fixture. The Black Stars have been drawn alongside Morocco, Gabon and Comoros for the Cameroon showdown and will see how they react to the dismissal of the ex-international.
