Former Head of State Yakubu Gowon has expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, praising the administration’s efforts to address the country’s economic and security challenges. Gowon made the remarks on Saturday during a visit to the Presidential Villa.
He said the visit was an opportunity to appreciate the president for his ongoing efforts to move the country forward. Gowon noted that discussions during the meeting touched on Nigeria’s economic progress and broader national developments, adding that the administration appeared to be making efforts across political, economic and social sectors.

“I came to see him and to thank him for all the good work that he is doing for the country. We looked at the progress Nigeria is making economically and otherwise. He is doing the best he can all around, politically, economically, and socially,” Gowon said.
Commenting on the country’s security challenges, the former leader said the government was taking steps to address the situation and safeguard Nigerians’ interests.
According to him, the current administration is working to tackle the security crisis while managing other national priorities, stressing that the government is attempting to handle the situation without creating further difficulties for the country.
“Regarding the major problem we have today, which is security, he is doing everything to deal with those issues. He has to look after the interests of Nigeria in all areas,” he said.
