Vice President Kashim Shettima has provided an account of how President Bola Tinubu governed Nigeria during his four-week stay abroad.
Shettima said the president remained in regular contact with his administration and received frequent briefings on developments in the country.
The vice-president met Tinubu at the president’s residence in Lagos on Saturday, four days after Tinubu returned from his extended working vacation.

“We have been in regular contact throughout his sojourn abroad,” Shettima told journalists.
“We speak almost every other day, and we are updating him. We are updating him on developments in the nation, and we are happy he’s back on the beat.”

Tinubu was outside the country for about four weeks, a period that generated public discussion over his failure to formally hand over to the vice president.
The presidency had earlier said Tinubu continued to keep in touch with officials at home and directed the country’s affairs while abroad.
He cited his directive for an independent panel to investigate the deaths of 37 illegal miners in Minna.
Shettima’s account adds that the president received frequent briefings from his administration throughout his absence.
