United States (US) President Donald Trump has said that any Iranian funds unfrozen through sanctions relief or released by the US Treasury will go into a Washington-controlled escrow account, which Tehran can use to purchase US food and medical supplies.

Trump made this comment on Tuesday via his Truth Social platform

“The Money and/or Sanctions that the US Treasury is releasing goes into escrow, controlled by the USA, and will be used for the purchase of food and medical supplies, exclusively from the United States, including Corn, Wheat, and Soybeans from our great American Farmers.”

As part of the agreement, Iran is expected to receive some sanctions relief from the United States and regain access to some of its frozen assets.

The US Treasury Department said on Monday that it is temporarily easing sanctions on Iran until August 21, allowing the country to produce, sell, and export crude oil and related products while negotiations continue.
