Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has demanded the release of Iranians who have been detained by Kuwait.
Kuwait revealed on Tuesday that it arrested four men it accused of being members of Iran’s IRGC after they allegedly tried to infiltrate Bubiyan Island by sea and injured a Kuwaiti soldier.
Araghchi, in a post shared on X on Wednesday, said Kuwait attacked the Iranian boat and captured its citizens in an attempt to sow discord.
In clear attempt to sow discord, Kuwait has unlawfully attacked an Iranian boat and detained 4 of our citizens in the Persian Gulf. This illegal act took place near island used by the U.S. to attack Iran.
We demand immediate release of our nationals and reserve right to respond.
