Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, killing at least two people and injuring ten, as reported by Lebanon’s Health Ministry. The airstrikes are the latest breach of a fragile ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah.
The Israeli military asserted that it targeted multiple Hezbollah sites near the Syrian border, claiming to have hit underground infrastructure used for weapon development and arms smuggling into Lebanon.
Ibrahim Al-Moussawi, a Lebanese parliament member representing Hezbollah, condemned the attacks as a dangerous violation and blatant aggression, urging Lebanon to take action against Israel’s ongoing strikes.

Tensions between the two sides have escalated following Israel’s extension of its withdrawal deadline from Lebanon. Initially set for 26 January, Israel pushed the deadline to 18 February, citing the Lebanese army’s failure to meet its obligations under the ceasefire agreement.
Since the ceasefire took effect on November 27, at least 83 people have been killed and 228 injured in Israeli attacks on Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health. Many of the casualties occurred as displaced residents attempted to return to their homes in villages still occupied by Israeli forces who have defaulted on an agreement to vacate by last week’s deadline.
Tensions have flared this week, with reports of ongoing violations, including an Israeli drone strike in Majdal Selem that injured five people.
