Recent Israeli military strikes in southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of at least three people and wounded several others on Saturday, according to the Lebanese health ministry.

Israel confirmed responsibility for two of the attacks, asserting that the targets were militants allied with the Iran-backed group Hezbollah.

Near the town of Shebaa, Israeli forces confirmed killing two smugglers from the Lebanese Resistance Brigades, a Hezbollah affiliate, stating they were transporting weapons in “blatant violation” of the standing ceasefire.

A second confirmed strike in Baraashit killed a Hezbollah member allegedly involved in rehabilitating the group’s military infrastructure.

These actions have drawn international concern, with the European Union urging all parties to focus on preserving the nearly year-old truce.

Israel, however, insists it has the right to conduct operations to protect its borders and citizens, arguing that Lebanon is not acting quickly enough to disarm Hezbollah.
